Housing and Food
Campers live in cabins which house 10 to 12 children. There is one bunk counselor for every five children. Each cabin is equipped with indoor showers and bathroom facilities. The camp´s own chefs and bakers prepare nourishing, tasty meals in our modern, kosher kitchen. All foods are prepared in accordance with dietary laws.

Mature & Highly Skilled Professionals Provide Individual Supervision
The Cedar Lake Camp staff is carefully selected and trained to provide empathic leadership and care. In keeping with the policy of the New Jersey Federation of YMHA´s and YWHA´s, our staff consistently exceeds the standards recommended by the American Camping Association. Highly skilled professionals, dedicated to a standard of excellence, provide personal supervision for each child. Similarly, all specialists are highly qualified and experienced in their fields and certified, where certification is available. Counselors with a rich diversity of backgrounds have at least one year of college. There is one staff member to every two and one half campers, with an average of one bunk counselor to every five children.

Health Supervision
One resident doctor and three nurses are on duty around the clock in our Health Center. The entire health program has been thoughtfully planned to fit the needs of our campers and is supervised by the outstanding New Jersey physicians on the Medical Committee of the New Jersey Federation of YMHA´s and YWHA´s.

Celebrating the Sabbath
The joy of Shabbat is a highlight of the Cedar Lake Camp experience. Community, tradition and heritage are linked in our celebration. Campers and staff wear white shirts as the Sabbath begins with candle lighting, kiddush and blessing over the Challah. After dinner services are conducted by campers who have spent the week in preparation. An Oneg Shabbat, with dance and song, follows. On Saturday there are short morning services followed by an exciting all-camp activity. Bunk groups join together in a traditional Shabbat picnic. The Sabbath's end is marked with a beautiful candlelight Havdallah service.
